Truck carrying motor vehicle parts and oil overturns in Midrand

MIDRAND – Truck carrying car parts and engine oil overturns and people steal cargo.


A truck carrying car parts and engine oils overturned on the N1 North via the Allandale Road off-ramp in Midrand on 15 August.

According to the Johannesburg Metro Police Department spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, the truck with two trailers was coming from the Free State Province. It overturned on the N1 North Allandale off-ramp after one of the trailers had overturned in the curve.

Minnaar said, “One of the truck’s trailers overturned causing the driver to lose control of the freight truck.

“SAPS and JMPD are now on the scene, the accident is still being investigated but there were no injured persons found.”

In a video on social media people can be seen grabbing car parts and the engine oils taken from the truck.

Minnaar has confirmed that it was car accessories being stolen but the scene is now secure after the arrival of SAPS and JMPD.
