Jubilate Primary School celebrated 20 years with learners, parents and alumni
MIDRAND – Jubilate Primary School hosted learners, parents and their alumni for their 20 year anniversary.
Jubilate Primary School celebrated its 20-year anniversary on 3 August at the school premises in Midrand.
The event, which was themed as a carnival, had parents, learners and alumni welcomed to some fun activities at the school like jumping castles, fun games, stalls, face painting and the big raffle, among other things.
Jubilate Primary School principal, Nadine Mack, explained the school has been in existence for 20 years, which was probably one of a few in the Midrand area that has been going for that long.
She added, “Today’s event is a celebration of our community, our school, and bringing back old learners of the school and the learners parents, just to connect and have fun.
“We also have stalls set up by our Grade 7 learners who are doing entrepreneurship. They have made stuff and some have games on their stalls. We then have our board of governors who have got some stalls for food and drinks, teas, coffees and hot chocolate. We also have some of our sponsors who have sponsored our raffle here today.”
Mack said she had been at the school for more than two years. “I have found this school to be wonderful. Being a smaller school, everybody knows one other and my staff are also fantastic and very experienced.
She added that they are also trying to formulate an alumni network to bring back previous learners. “I am very pleased to say we have a lot of our old learners here today, and it is very special that they have come to celebrate with us to acknowledge where they come from.”
Kathiegasen Chetty, who is a parent to one of the learners, said his son was comfortable with the school and is now prospering compared to how he performed at his previous schools.
“I am enjoying it, and my son is enjoying school too. What I also love about the school is the teaching styles.
“The teachers are also caring an willing to assist the learners and communicate with the learners.”
He added, “I have also noticed a lot of change from him. He is responsible, he has a good attitude now and a drive to learn.”
Before the end of the event, all of the guests were summoned to the football field for the raffle.
Learners put paper plates all over the field, stood in the middle and threw water balloons. All the wet plates that were picked up by the learners won a raffle prize.
