Ward 112 candidates

MIDRAND – Local resident and EFF chairperson Thabiso Telekoa is running for the position of Ward 112 councillor.

Midrand resident Thabiso Telekoa will be running as the EFF’s candidate in the upcoming Ward 112 by-elections.

Telekoa is an IT technician and chairperson for the EFF in Ward 112 and has been a Midrand resident since 2010. According to him, he became interested in local politics when the EFF launched in 2013, and subsequently joined the next year.

Telekoa added that during his visits to his hometown in Mpumalanga, he saw the high levels of unemployment and believed that radical change was needed. “When the Economic Freedom Fighters came around, I wanted to get involved and bring change.”

In terms of what he thinks is needed in Ward 112, he said, “The primary issue that deserves attention in the ward is service delivery which includes the fixing of potholes, robots and making sure that the local community is safe by working closer with the police and Community Policing Forum.”

He added that the installation of new robots in areas such as Blue Hills and the establishment of significant sports facilities for the youth are important in his plans for Ward 112.

Another stance Telekoa believed was extremely pertinent was to assist in the development of meaningful partnerships between the corporate world and small businesses in Ward 112.

“There are so many residents in Midrand who have services such as baking, selling fruit and vegetables. ”

He concluded, “We want to create local sourcing for the big businesses in the area and that will create tremendous opportunities for Midrand.”
