Man found dead in smoke

RABIE RIDGE – Man found dead in his room by fellow tenants in Rabie Ridge.


A Rabie Ridge resident was found dead in his room on 8 July after his fellow tenants saw smoke coming from the roof of his room and decided to kick down the room’s door.

A spokesperson for the Rabie Ridge Police Station Constable Jacob Nhlongo said they received a report on the incident at about 2pm.

Upon their arrival, they found that a man in his late 30s was lying unconscious on the floor.

Nhlongo said, “It is not yet clear what had happened to the deceased but we found that the smoke was from the electricity cables in his room.”

He continued, “An inquest docket has been opened and we are asking for assistance from community members to share any information relating to the case.”
