Residents warned, ‘always be alert’

RABIE RIDGE – Rabie Ridge police urge community members in Klipfontein and Chloorkop to be on alert so they do not become crime victims.

Rabie Ridge Police Station advised residents of Klipfontein View and Chloorkop that they should be on high alert of criminal activity taking place in their areas.

Communications officer Constable Jacob Nhlongo said on 19 June that residents should keep prioritising safety. “We urge the community to always be alert when they are driving to their homes to avoid car hijackings and to always check the car following them or even people standing or walking next to their gates to avoid housebreaking and/or robbery.

Nhlongo also advised:

• You should always make sure your gates are closed and locked

• Don’t sleep with windows open

• Don’t enter your house and leave your doors open.

To avoid theft out of a motor vehicle Nhlongo said, “Do not leave valuable items lying around, more especially where everybody can see them.”

In conclusion, he stressed that the police depend on the community to help them fight crime.

“By giving us information and reporting all illegal activity to the police, only then will we win this battle of crime in our country.”
