President Cyril Ramaphosa delivers keynote address at inaugural Digital Economy Summit in Midrand

MIDRAND – The president's keynote address was also delivered via hologram to an audience in North West where he said the summit should enable the government to enhance its digital footprint.


President Cyril Ramaphosa arrived at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand for Fourth Industrial Revolution SA – Digital Economy Summit and was received by the Premier of Gauteng, David Makhura.

The summit was hosted by Fourth Industrial Revolution SA (4IRSA) which is an alliance between partners from the public and private sectors, academia and civil society.

Ramaphosa said in his keynote address, “Indeed this is the foundation, an enabler, a moment where we start a meaningful conversation on what this fourth industrial evolution is all about and what this digital dialogue should be.

“In years to come, we will reflect on this summit on having enabled to imagine inclusive growth and solve the problems our people are going through.”

Ramaphosa said the summit is forging the future for the country’s digital conversation, which they hope will ignite the economy so that it can be fair and competitive.

The president wished the audience an amazing summit, calling it historic, “We must embrace digital growth of human insights in artificial intelligence and engagement to address poverty, inequality and unemployment. This revolution must be hanced and taken advantage of.”

The president’s address was also projected in 3D holographic imagery transferred from the Gallagher Centre to an audience in the North West.
