Update: New developments on head-on collision on Modderfontein Road, Rabie Ridge

RABIE RIDGE – A case of reckless driving has been opened.


Update, 27 June, 2.30pm

There have been new developments regarding a head-on collision on the corner Modderfontein Road and Falcon Street earlier this morning developments.

Metro police officer, Constable Xolani Fihla said that it is alleged that the minibus taxi driver stopped at a stop street on Modderfontein Road intending to turn left into Falcon Street. As he moved to turn, a male driver in a Ford coming from Falcon Street allegedly did not stop and both vehicles crashed head-on.

“All 15 passengers sustained serious to moderate injuries, including the driver of the light motor vehicle and the female passenger.”

A case of reckless driving has been opened.

Initial report, 27 June, 10am

A head-on collision on the corner of Modderfonetin Road and Falcon Street in Rabie Ridge early this morning (27 June) between a minibus taxi and a light motor vehicle has led to multiple injuries.

Paramedics and the police were are at the scene. Multiple passengers were stabilised on the scene and sent to Tembisa hospital to receive further treatment.

Metro police officer, Constable Xolani Fihla said, “The accident was so serious that it had to be handed over to the specialised unit, further information is not available at the moment.”
