One person airlifted after collision in Midrand

MIDRAND – Two people have reportedly been injured during a collision on Allandale Road.

One person has been airlifted to hospital after he sustained serious injuries in a crash on Thursday morning (20 June) on Allandale Road between Kyalami Race Track and the N1.

According to Shawn Herbst, spokesperson for Netcare 911, “Reports from the scene indicate that a light delivery vehicle and a light motor vehicle were involved in a collision allegedly due to an oil spill.”

Herbst added, “Paramedics assessed the scene and found that an adult male from the car sustained moderate injuries and an adult male from the bakkie had sustained serious injuries. The patient from the car was treated on the scene and once stabilised was transported by ambulance to the hospital for further treatment.”

He concluded that due to the seriousness of the bakkie driver’s injuries the Netcare 1 Specialised Helicopter Air Ambulance was called to airlift the patient to hospital.
