Injured hadeda put down

CARLSWALD – The Midrand SPCA found a severely injured hadeda ibis in Carlswald.

Midrand SPCA inspectors found an injured hadeda ibis in Carlswald on 27 May.

The general manager of the SPCA Pam Pretorius said the society was notified of the injured bird in a residential area. Inspectors Theo Mokgatle and Claudia Brasler raced to the location to assist the bird.

They found that the bird had sustained two broken legs and was in tremendous pain. Pretorius said they took it to Johannesburg Wildlife Vet for further assistance. “Due to the severity of the injuries, the bird was humanely euthanised to end its suffering.”

Pretorius thanked the Johannesburg Wildlife Vet and the residents for contacting the SPCA. “Please always report any injured animals to us as we want to assist them all.”
