BLUE HILLS – Midrand Police and Ria Sebetsa Security recently held a joint roadblock operation which saw a shootout between police and three suspects.

Three suspects were arrested and firearms recovered in a joint operation between the Midrand police and Ria Sebetsa Security on 6 June.

CEO of Ria Sebetsa Security Danny Muduray said that during the roadblock, authorities pulled over a white Toyota Hilux bakkie with three occupants. Muduray added that the vehicle stopped a few metres away from the roadblock before all three suspects jumped out and attempted to flee on foot in different directions.

A shoot-out took place between the police and suspects, but the suspects managed to escape. The Toyota bakkie was searched and the ownership of the vehicle was obtained. Two of the three suspects made their way to the house, with one entering to change his clothing while the other remained on the street.

Law enforcement confronted the two suspects and arrested them before they searched the property and found a stolen Toyota Quantum in the driveway, which was seized by police.

Meanwhile, the third suspect, who was driving the Toyota Hilux, made his way to the original scene to claim his vehicle. The police identified him as one of the suspects and arrested him.

All three suspects were detained at the Midrand Police Station and are expected to make their court appearances soon.
