Rapper becomes a target

DIEPSLOOT – A musician and Diepsloot resident said he has had to cancel his upcoming shows.

 


A hip-hop rapper Wise Ngwenya from Diepsloot Ext 7, woke up to a devastating experience on Sunday 19 May when he discovered that his white VW Jetta had been broken into.

Ngwenya shared the news on Facebook with his followers and friends.

“I said this before, Diepsloot is no longer safe for me. My mini laptop, hard drive, power bank, cell phone, amplifier, and the car battery [are] gone,” the rapper’s Facebook post read.

He expressed his disappointment in the community he lives in. “I’m a rapper and I’m still traumatised, I’ve even canceled my upcoming gigs.

“I don’t know which device they [used] to open it but windows are not damaged. The car is okay, they took what they want and then they fled.”

The rapper said he suspects a suspicious white Ford Figo he saw driving around his home on the evening leading to the theft. “I think they were watching me all along, it was the first time I saw the car. I know the vehicles my neighbours drive which is why I’m suspecting the white Ford Figo.”

Spokesperson of Diepsloot Police Station Constable Morata confirmed that a case has of theft has been opened, “We are aware of that matter, the victim opened a case at our police station.

“At the moment investigations are underway. We have made a few arrests in the Diepsloot area a few days ago but we are still waiting for our forensic department to see if their fingerprints match the ones of the perpetrators who committed the crime you’re asking about.”
