Pedestrians urged to be alert

MIDRAND – The Midrand Police are stressing to community members to remain alert of any suspicious behaviour following a common robbery in Halfway Gardens.


The Midrand Police Station is calling on the local community to remain alert while walking at night in the area following a common robbery 1 June.

A spokesperson for the station Constable Thabiso Selowa said that a robbery occurred at 9.30pm when the victim was walking on 5th street in Halfway Gardens.

She added that the victim was suddenly approached by two unarmed suspects from behind. One suspect grabbed him while the other searched his pocket and took his Huawei P30 Lite before fleeing the scene.

No arrests have been made as of yet and the police are investigating the issue.

Selowa stressed that community members walking or driving should be aware of their surroundings for any potential threats and should report any suspicious behaviour to the police immediately.
