Midrand SPCA save four dogs after they are dumped on the highway

MIDRAND – The Midrand SPCA rescued four dogs found along the highway and are calling for assistance in looking after them.

The Midrand SPCA is calling on the local community for assistance after they rescued four dogs who were allegedly dumped on the highway in the Midrand area.

Chairperson for the organisation, Brenda Lucas said that once they were notified, two inspectors rushed to the scene. They managed to secure the dogs before they were hit by traffic.

Lucas added that the dogs were loaded into their van and brought to the Midrand SPCA premises in a stressed state. They were given treatment and, to date, one of the dogs had been adopted to a new home.

The Midrand SPCA has since called on the local community for any assistance with the operational costs of the SPCA.

She said, “We would appreciate if the public could make donations towards our fuel bills. Our society is required to attend to all cruelty complaints and we currently spend almost R10 000 per month on fuel.”

She added that the public should bring their unwanted animals to the Midrand SPCA. “We will not judge any person or their circumstances for why they are surrendering their animals. All we ask is that you bring them in and sign them over to us instead of dumping them and leaving them to fend for themselves.”
