MIDRAND – Friends of Free Wildlife treat hadeda birds after they suffer abrasions from being wired to a fence.

Friends of Free Wildlife posted on their Facebook page of a disturbing case of how a Midrand couple found two hadeda birds wired to a fence in neighbour’s garden.

The couple who feeds local hadedas, heard the birds calling from the garden next door. When they looked over the fence, they saw two hadedas attached to a wire fence. The man climbed over and tried to untangle them and found that it was an adult and a youngster wired onto the fence.

The man was told by a someone believed to be the gardener, that the birds were disturbing his vegetable patch, “So he had caught them and tied them up to keep them away.”

The couple brought the birds to Friends of Free Wildlife for treatment to make sure there was no further damage. They treated the abrasions and decided to release the birds back to their home garden.
