Joburg mayor Herman Mashaba committed to revalitise the city’s economy

JOHANNESBURG – Mayor aims to revitalise the City's economy.


Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba has assured the Joburg residents that his administration will revive the city.

Mashaba was speaking at the City’s 18th Annual General Meeting at the Joburg Theatre in Braamfontein. The mayor said the revival of the city’s economy remained a top priority.

“I will place a great deal of responsibility on board members of the municipal entities to assist to revitalise Johannesburg’s economy and service delivery,” said Mashaba.

“Speaking of the revitalisation of the city’s economy, job creation and economic growth continue to be our major focus. We intended to change the inner-city into a construction site as we seek to create jobs and improve the Johannesburg economy.”

The mayor asserted that he would live up to the promises he made on fighting corruption in his administration.

“As you will recall that this multiparty insists on clean governance and I intend to live up to that commitment. Part of achieving this is to create a culture of ethical behaviour and leadership. I want this culture to be entrenched throughout the City.

Mashaba said his administration would deliver on the promises they made to the people.

“Great work has been done by City Power, Joburg Water and Pikitup, Johannesburg Roads Agency as well as Johannesburg City Parks.

“I would like to extends my gratitude to these entities for working closely with my office to ensure that we are able to fulfil the promises we have made to the people of Johannesburg.”
