Stolen school things turn up

IVORY PARK – The Ivory park police arrested a suspect in possession of stationery stolen from a local school.

Ivory Park police arrested a 22-year-old suspect for the alleged possession of stolen stationery belonging to a local primary school.

A spokesperson for the station Captain Bernard Matimulane said the suspect was selling glue in Ivory Park Ext 3 to a local woman who was buying for her child, a learner at Ebomini Primary School, from which the stationery was apparently stolen from.

Matimulane added, “When the parent bought the glue on behalf of her child, the teacher was able to immediately identify it as one of the items stolen from the school this year. Ebomini Primary School has been broken into at least three times since the beginning of this year.”

The police were called immediately. They visited the suspect at his trading place and when searched, they found hundreds of items including pens, erasers, and crayons.

Station Commander at the Ivory Park Police Station Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo said, “Burglaries and robberies at our schools rob our children of their much-deserved education, and this arrest will definitely remind all who are involved in these criminal activities that the long arm of the law will always catch up with them,”

Brigadier Ngcobo encouraged the local community to refrain from buying a suspicious property and to alert the police in instances where they suspect that items on sale may have been stolen.
