#CrimeBulletin: Midrand police make a number of arrests

MIDRAND – Here are arrests made by the Midrand police.


A number of arrests were made by the Midrand police for various crimes.

The arrests were made in Halfway House, Carlswald and Waterfall among others.

The following arrests were compiled by Sergeant Matome Tlamela:

Suspect arrested with alleged stolen scooter batteries

  • A suspect was arrested in Waterfall by Seven Arrows Security on 5 March at about 11.50pm for being in possession of 10 scooter batteries which were suspected to be stolen. The batteries were valued at R50 000. The suspect was handed over to police and is currently detained at the Midrand Police Station.

Midrand police recover an illegal firearm

  • The Midrand police followed up on information of a case opened at the Mamelodi Police Station. Their investigation in tracing a suspect in the case led them to the suspect’s residence in Carlswald on 8 March. Upon searching his home, they found an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The firearm was discovered to belong to a security company in KwaZulu-Natal. The suspect is currently detained at the Midrand Police Station.

Two suspects arrested for drug possession

  • An on-duty police officer was patrolling in Halfway House and stopped two suspects on 6 March at about 1.30pm. The officer searched the two and found illegal substances on them. The suspects were arrested and charged with possession of an illegal substance.

Reckless driver arrested

  • On 10 March, the Midrand police were conducting a routine roadblock in Carlswald. While searching a vehicle, a Nissan vehicle crashed into another stationary vehicle at the roadblock. The police immediately arrested the driver of the Nissan who was charged with reckless and negligent driving. The suspect was detained at the Midrand Police Station.
