Herman Mashaba to switch on 99 streetlights

MIDRAND – The Executive Mayor of Joburg will switch on 99 new streetlights for the Midrand community on Tuesday, 2 April.


The Executive Mayor, Herman Mashaba will switch on 99 new streetlights through the City of Johannesburg’s power utility, City Power at Olifantsfontein Road at 1pm on 2 April.

According to a statement from the office of the Executive Mayor, “City Power has also installed 167 new streetlights in streets that include New Road, Springfield, Winnie, Surrey, Neptune, Guilford, Walton and Seventh Avenue.”

City Power is said to be conducting numerous streetlight installation and maintenance projects throughout Johannesburg.

“While these new streetlights are being installed, City Power is continuing to undertake the maintenance of over 270 000 existing streetlights,” the statement added.
