The Midrand Reporter journalist Ofesente Ditlopo is on the scene and is reporting on the protest action on housing issues in Rabie Ridge, Midrand.
Roads have been blocked in Rabie Ridge by protesters, who are protesting that illegal shacks must be removed around the area because they are decreasing the value of property in the area.

According to a Twitter user, Mntfwana Selinah, the protest action in Midrand erupted on Dane Road and Modderfontein, it was previously reported widely that the protest action was on Allandale Road.

Protest action has erupted on Allandale Road in Midrand this morning, 26 March, with reports of protesters burning tyres to block the road. According to the spokesperson for the Metro police, Senior Superintendent Wayne Minnaar the protest has shifted into the Rabie Ridge area and Allandale Road has been cleared.
Minnaar said the protest is about housing and that traffic is flowing. There is also a police presence.
