Update: Repairs on burnt Allandale substation complete

ALLANDALE – Eskom said the Allandale substation fire was caused by a persistent oil leak.

Eskom has confirmed that the repairs on the Allandale substation that caught fire on 20 March, have been completed.

City Power Johannesburg is now working on taking the full load, however, the area is still load-shedding until 12pm.

Investigators were unsure what caused the fire at first, but it was then discovered that the fire was caused by a persistent oil leak. Several areas around Midrand and Tembisa were affected by power outages as technicians tried to fix the problem.
