Jukskei needs a clean

MIDRAND – A river clean-up will take place at the Jukskei on 16 March.

As part of A Re Sebetseng, Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe is calling on the local community to join a Jukskei River clean-up on 16 March.

She said that although there were many entities involved in the maintenance of the river, she would like to start a clean-up group that will be made up of local residents who would maintain the river between Leeuwkop and Waterval on a regular basis.

“This area is in need of much-needed attention,” she said.

“Whenever the heavy rains appear there is a lot of waste and debris that need to be cleaned up.”

The committee will host the clean-ups which will take place on the third Saturday of every month starting from 16 March.

If any residents are interested in joining this group they can contact Deppe on

082 886 8519 or join on the day.

Residents are also urged to bring along gloves, boots, takkies, sunscreen, hats and juice or water with them for the clean-up.
