Installation complete for Midrand SPCA

MIDRAND – The construction on the new borehole and sewerage system at the Midrand SPCA has been completed.

After a month of work, the Midrand SPCA‘s new borehole and sewerage system are ready and in operation.

The organisation raised the money through the invaluable help from Fury Motor Group, William Hunt Midrand, Lindsay Saker Midrand, Fury Ford Midrand and Fury Mazda Midrand.

The SPCA raised more than R300 000 for the borehole system, water retention tanks, a purification plant and upgrades to the water flow system.

Dealer principal of Fury Mazda Midrand, Bernerd Blom, said the project is one of the many they have done with the Midrand SPCA and added that the new borehole and sewerage system would be a permanent project with long term effects.

The project was undertaken by Archiway Architects’ Byron Ninham and they broke ground on 4 February. The expansive project took just over a month to finish with the hand over of the system on 14 March.

Ninham said that the project will provide the SPCA with long term benefits as it gives them the ability to clean their kennels and have fresh water on hand while also saving a substantial amount of money.

He added that the system is a completely green solution and energy efficient.

General manager of the Midrand SPCA, Pam Pretorius, said that the building process was extremely efficient and fast and didn’t’ affect any of the organisation’s operations.

“To clean the kennels we will be able to use the borehole water, while we givie our animals fresh water… So this solution will give us a massive saving,” she said.

“I don’t think words can express our gratitude to all the motor companies and stakeholders. It’s absolutely amazing. It’s a massive undertaking that we are so thankful to everyone for.”
