Region E Open Day to take place in Klipfontein

KLIPFONTEIN VIEW – The City of Johannesburg will be hosting its first regional open day to highlight some of the programmes and activities the City is working on.

The much anticipated Region E Open Day will take place on the 16 March at Klipfontein View to encourage residents to take part in healthy lifestyle campaigns and view a range of exhibitions by the City of Johannesburg.

The event will take place at the open ground next to Klipfontein View taxi rank. The venue has been reconfigured by Region E to reach out to more residents of Klipfontein.

Residents will learn more about the programmes, activities, undertakings and opportunities within the City of Johannesburg and much more.

This will be the first official segment of the flagship events i.e. Region E Open Days and will soon be followed by the second segment which will be held at Alexandra Stadium. The Region utilises these open days as a platform to engage communities in an informal ‘out of office’ and constructive manner whereby different entities showcase their programmes and services.

The exhibition will also provide an opportunity for various external institutions to showcase their programmes and service offerings including career opportunities and with some focus, if possible, on youth programmes.

All the participating departments, entities and external partners will bring activities that will excite the residents and make the open days more attractive.

In an effort by the region to encourage a healthy lifestyle in the community, as part of the programme, the health department and its partners will be providing screening services for blood pressure, diabetes, HIV, and cholesterol. Environmental health officials will also be available to give tips on food handling directed at the informal traders and spaza shop owners.

Departments that have already confirmed to be present include Joburg Water, Joburg City Parks and Zoo, Department of Health, Citizen Relationship and Urban Management, Housing, Joburg Roads Agency, Johannesburg Metro Police Department, City Power, Integrated Service Delivery, Emergency Services, Social Development, Transport, Speaker’s Office, Joburg Property Company and City of Johannesburg Ombudsman Office.

Details: Deputy director for citizen relationship management in Region E Ephraim Pooe. 011 582 1482/3.
