Ward 112 councillor Madeleine Hicklin with the City of Johannesburg and Executive Mayor Herman Mashaba will host another A Re Sebetseng clean-up in Noordwyk.
The clean-up is set to take place on 16 March at the back of Noordwyk Park, Hicklin said, “We cleaned up the area a month ago, and in that time the place is still a dumping site, the rubbish has pilled up.”
She added that all ward councillors should have a clean-up once a month, but this does not happen.
Hicklin stressed that everybody needs to develop a culture of having a cleaner environment, dumping in proper sites and avoid thinking that it is someone else job to pick litter up for them.
In previous clean-ups, she said, they were helped by school learners around the area, but due to the school term ending on 15 March, they would love more volunteers to help out.
Where: Back of Noordwyk Park, close to Plane Street. Gather at 30 Plane Street, Noordwyk
Time: 8am-10am
When: 16 March.
