One lane on the N1 South, just after Allandale Road, is still closed to traffic after a truck carrying chickens overturned earlier today, 28 February. Traffic is still affected.
Johannesburg Metro police spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, said about 40 chickens died and 60 were rescued.
Investigations are continuing, he said.
According to Emer-G-Med on Twitter, the paramedics who arrived on scene found that two other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Emer-G-Med further stated that two patients with minor injuries were transported to a nearby hospital.

The Midrand and Sandton SPCAs attended to the chickens on the scene to clear it, however, the welfare of the chickens is unclear at this time.
