‘Grow Ward 80 together’ – councillor

RABIE RIDGE – The campaign which was launched early this month by Pagadi, will clean up areas in the area twice a month.

 


Ward 80 councillor Makgoba Pagadi has hailed the ‘Grow Ward 80 together’ clean-up operation a success.

On 26 January residents of Rabie Ridge and surrounding areas embarked on the campaign which Pagadi launched early this month. The aim of the campaign is to clean up areas in the area twice a month.

Pagadi has urged the community to ‘keep check of the health and safety of the community.’

The acting regional director of Region A, Hlobohang Gamede emphasised that the region is dedicated to provide the community with a clean, healthy and safe environment.

On 17 January, the following activities were conducted during a clean-up operation:

• Unblocking of kerb inlets along Hlanganani Street in Rabie Ridge Ext 4 and Hlanganane

Street in Ext 5

• Clearing of dumping hotspots along

Parliament and Church streets, Sophia

informal settlement and Lerato Street in Ext 5

• Pickeing up litter along Parliament Street

• Conducting health inspections and by-law

education at spaza shops and the Sophia

informal settlement.

“We call on the community to refrain from illegal dumping and assist Pikitup by disposing of household waste on the assigned days only.”
