#PleaseCallMe: Protesters take to the streets as police guard Vodacom’s offices [VIDEO]

MIDRAND – Makate and Vodacom have been in a battle regarding a settlement for years, and in 2016, the Constitutional Court ruled that the mobile company must pay Makate.

Members of the #PleaseCallMeMovement have taken to the streets on 31 January, outside the gates of Vodacom’s offices in Midrand.

Vodacom has not yet paid a former employee best known for inventing the Please Call Me concept, Nkosana Makate.

Makate and Vodacom have been in a battle regarding a settlement for years, and in 2016, the Constitutional Court ruled that the mobile company must pay Makate.

The two parties have met on numerous occasions to try and reach a settlement but, to date, no amount has been agreed upon.

The movement also protested last year on Mandela Day, 18 July. More updates will follow as information becomes available.
