Residents urged to safeguard public property

IVORY PARK – Police say the theft of public property robs learners of their futures.

Ivory Park Station Commander Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo has called on the local community to assist the police in keeping a watchful eye over public properties, such as schools and clinics.

This is in light of a robbery that took place in Tsakane, Ekurhuleni, at a brand-new school with state-of-the-art technology equipment.

Furthermore, Ngcobo reminded the communities of Ivory Park, Ebony Park and Kaalfontein of similar robberies that have happened in the past. “We must never regard what happened in Tsakane as something from some faraway place.

“Our experience has taught us that we have such characters in our community who wouldn’t hesitate to jeopardise the future of thousands of children for their narrow selfish interests.”

Ngcobo reaffirmed the station’s commitment, “We as the Ivory Park police are deeply committed to making sure that these public properties are safe at all times, hence we are working with the schools to ensure that.

“But the most important stakeholders are the communities, whose dwellings surround these premises and where some of the criminals come from.”
