Teriah also obtained seven distinctions in English, Afrikaans, core maths, physical science, accounting, history and life orientation.
“As a school we are proud of Teriah and wish her well as she goes on to study political science and international relations at the University of Pretoria this year,” said principal David Bell.
Christ Church College achieved an impressive 100 per cent pass rate in its 2018 matric results.
A very excited Teriah attributes her achievements to her passion for education and a motto she learnt at her primary school, HillKruin Montessori – excellence without limits. She believes that when assigned a task, one should do it wholeheartedly or not at all.
Her teachers and fellow learners and friends at Christ Church College have kept her motivated and helped her maximise her individual potential which is one of the core values of the school.
“My faith in God, as well as the morals and values instilled in me by my parents and the love and support from my family and friends, has helped me stay focused on my goals,” said Teriah.
As part of her future goals, the 17-year-old would like to get involved in government after her studies and aspires to work with the United Nations organisation to help alleviate poverty and ensure that children are given a proper education.
Teriah said her recipe for success is staying true to oneself and remaining focused on one’s goals. “Surrounding oneself with positive, motivating and supportive friends and family is key to achieving one’s goals and dreams.”
