‘Tis the season to give

FOURWAYS – Struggling to think of a Christmas gift for your loved one who has everything? Why not sponsor a sterilisation for a township animal and receive a personalised certificate

For just a R550 donation to the Pet Empowerment in the Townships (Pets) organisation, you can save thousands of animals all at once!

This holiday season, Pets is encouraging the Fourways community to make a donation to support their sterilisation work. Not only will you receive a warm fuzzy feeling for making the world a better place, you’ll also receive a personalised certificate detailing your donation, which you can then print out and give to your loved one.

“That kind of gift is priceless,” added Nicole Badenhorst of Pets.

“Want to know how to save thousands of lives? It starts by sterilising just one animal.”

The research backs this claim: According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, an average unsterilised female cat can breed three times a year and has an average of four kittens per litter. An unsterilised female dog can breed twice a year with litters averaging between six and 10 puppies.

Therefore, in just seven years of unregulated breeding, one unspayed cat and her offspring can produce

420 000 kittens and one unspayed dog can produce 97 000 puppies.

Conducting one sterilisation will save thousands of animals from a life devoid of the care or love they deserve in a world that does not care adequately for stray or abandoned animals.

Pets will be accepting donations until 23 December in order to still have time to create the certificates and asks that you email your proof of payment and the relevant names of both the receiver and donor to heidi.hannig@gmail.com so that the correct names can be placed on the certificates.

Pets is a tax-exempt organisation and a Section 18A. Tax certificates can be given to donators.
