Midrand police seek help of informers

MIDRAND – If an application to become a police informer is accepted, the person will be registered and trained to conduct their police informer work without risking their safety and the safety of others.

The Midrand Police Station is still looking for more community members to become police informers.

As previously reported in Become a police informer, Week ending 25 August 2017, an informer works with the police to provide relevant information about secret criminal activities. There are incentives as a form of payment if the information they provide in an investigation leads to the eventual arrest of a suspect.

Midrand Police Station commander Brigadier David Tsotsotso said, “Informers will never be required nor requested to testify in court and they will at all times remain anonymous because their identity will never be revealed.”

If an application to become a police informer is accepted, the person will be registered and trained to conduct their police informer work without risking their safety and the safety of others.

Details: Midrand Police Station Commander Brigadier David Tsotsotso: 082 828 6032; 011 347 1600/26.
