Earlier, 8 October:

A light aircraft crashed in Albertyn Street in Vorna Valley today, 8 October. Ria Sebetsa Security Services, Netcare 911 and residents are on the scene.

According to Ria Sebetsa Security Services CEO, Danny Maduray, the aircraft crashed in the backyard of a residential property.

Although it has not yet been established how many occupants were aboard the plane, the pilot of the aircraft and a gardener have died.

“All necessary authorities are on scene and have secured the area for a South African Civil Aircraft  Aviation investigation,” said Shawn Herbst of Netcare 911.

Motorists are urged to avoid Albertyn Street between Le Roux Avenue and Harry Galaun Drive as the road is closed.
