Kaalfontein man cuffed for illegal firearm

MIDRAND – He was one of the many suspects arrested for various crimes.

 

A 28-year-old man from Kaalfontein was arrested for the alleged possession of an illegal firearm which contained 14 rounds of ammunition.

According to the police, he was apprehended by community members who assaulted him before calling the police to the scene.

“He was one of the many suspects arrested by the Ekurhuleni North Cluster over the weekend for various crimes. He is currently in hospital and receiving treatment,” said the spokesperson for the Ivory Park Police Station, Captain Bernard Matimulane.

The Ivory Park and Rabie Ridge police also arrested three suspects for possession of suspected stolen and hijacked vehicles. One of the vehicles was hijacked in Midrand and later found in possession of one of the suspects in Ivory Park.

More arrests that were made:

• 40 for driving under the influence of alcohol

• 20 for possession of drugs

• 7 illegal foreigners.

“All these arrests were made by the Ekurhuleni North Cluster. Suspects are expected to appear before the Tembisa and Kempton Park magistrates’ courts,” said Matimulane.
