Midrand police arrest trio for drugs and bribery

MIDRAND – Trio arrested for bribery and dealing in drugs after they were caught red-handed.

Midrand police arrested three men on charges of dealing in drugs and bribery on 27 August on the corner of 13 Avenue and Lever Road about 3.30pm.

The trio appeared in court on 28 August and the Midrand Magistrates’ Court granted them bail of R1 000 each.

“The successful arrest was due to a tip-off the police received from an informer. Therefore we urge all residents to please come to the station and register to become an informer so that community members can also play their role in the fight against crime,” said Midrand police spokesperson Sergeant Matome Tlamela.

After the police caught the suspects red-handed, the trio attempted to bribe the police with a fee of R8 500.

“We are pleased that our officers do not accept bribes. This shows that Midrand police are adamant about curbing crime in the community, especially drugs which are slowly eating away at society,” added Tlamela.

Details: Midrand Police Station 011 347 1626.
