Three killed and one injured in an ambush at Swazi Inn

IVORY PARK – More than 50 cartridges were found on the scene.

Businesses had to shut down in the busy informal trading area of Swazi Inn after three men opened fire, leaving three dead and one injured.

Informal traders and businesses at the inn in Ivory Park had to close early on 11 July after multiple gunshots were fired in the afternoon, killing the three people on the spot. According to the police, the four men were seated in a Toyota Quantum when they were approached by the three suspects who opened fire.

Ivory Park Police Station Spokesperson Captain Bernard Matimulane said, “Three of the occupants of the vehicle were declared dead on the scene while one is currently recovering in hospital.” More than 50 cartridges were found.

Two of the deceased men, aged 34 and 39, were from Hillbrow and the third deceased was a 33-year-old from Ebony Park in Midrand. Matimulane said, “The motive for the murder is still unknown and we are appealing to anyone with information to contact the police.”

Police investigations are ongoing.
