A case of theft out of a motor vehicle was opened at the Midrand Police Station and, according to Midrand Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Matome Tlamela, the said vehicle was parked at a shopping centre in Blue Hills at night.
“The complainant alleges that she parked her vehicle at a local shopping centre with the windows closed and doors locked,” said Tlamela.
“When the complainant arrived back at her car at 8.45pm [15 June], she noticed a silver BMW driving at a high speed and her vehicle’s alarm was going off.”
Tlamela said that when the woman arrived back at her vehicle, her passenger door was damaged and her laptop was stolen.
The case is currently being investigated and no arrests have been made.
Tlamela advises the community to not leave valuable items such as laptops, cameras and handbags in plain sight, but to rather lock them inside the boot of the vehicle.
