Armed men follow and rob Kanana businessman after he withdrew large sum of money

MIDRAND – On his way home he noticed a BMW following him.

A businessman from Kanana was followed and robbed of his money after he had traded second-hand aluminium in Germiston.

Melusi Khumalo went to cash his R28 257 cheque at a bank in Festival Mall in Kempton Park. On his way home to Kanana, he noticed a BMW following him.

Spokesperson for Rabie Ridge Police Station Captain Mofana Masela said, “When he got to his gate, he saw two men from the BMW that was following him. He suspected they wanted to rob him and quickly got off his van and ran to his yard.”

Masela said the two men followed Khumalo to his shack and pointed firearms at him. “They then demanded money from him. They took his jacket which had R10 800 in the pocket. He was followed from Germiston to the bank. It appears they saw where he had put the money.”

The police again appeal to members of the public to be observant when withdrawing large sums of money and to be in the company of someone.

“If you suspect something is amiss, rush to the nearest police station and don’t drive straight home.”
