Mrs India South Africa finalist hopes to raise awareness for NPOs

MIDRAND – Midrand resident, chosen as one of the 25 finalists for Mrs India South Africa 2018, wants to raise awareness about animals in the community.

Midrand resident Deepika Jonnalagadda has been chosen as one of the top 25 finalists for Mrs India South Africa 2018.

“I consider this as a new platform to re-invent myself, my intelligence, style and strength. I am extremely delighted and feel honoured to be chosen from more than 600 other applicants from all over South Africa,” said Jonnalagadda.

Jonnalagadda is from Bangalore, India and well versed in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. She graduated from Mount Carmel College for women, where she studied Journalism. Jonnalagadda has lived in Midrand for more than a decade.

“I learned Bharatanatyam [an Indian classical dance form] from the early age of 7, I am now a professionally trained Bharatanatyam dancer and founder of Mayuri Bharatanatyam Dance School in Midrand.

“I intend on highlighting and bringing an awareness and appreciation of the activities NPOs do. I can help build the public’s confidence in NPOs and help to raise funds for their noble causes.”

Jonnalagadda said from a young age she has loved animals and had compassion towards them. She also said that the pageant will help her create a platform to make a difference and raise awareness about animals in the community.

“I have volunteered and offered my services selflessly towards Tears Animal Rescue, Midrand SPCA and various other animal shelters.”

The Mrs India South Africa 2018 finals will take place on 25 August.
