Midrand police arrest man after he fired shots in public

MIDRAND – Man arrested by Midrand police for discharging his firearm in a public space.

 

Officers of Midrand Police Station arrested a man for discharging a firearm in a residential area on 25 May.

Midrand police spokesperson Sergeant Matome Tlamela said, “According to the security officers at the complex, the man arrived at the complex driving at a high speed, making a noise and when he arrived at his apartment he allegedly fired two shots.

“The security guards contacted the armed response team and police, who then disarmed the man and arrested him immediately. The firearm was confiscated with seven rounds and booked at the station for further investigations.”

The suspect appeared in the Midrand Magistrates’ Court and was released on bail.
