Thuma Mina campaign launched in Tembisa

MIDRAND – President Cyril Ramaphosa addresses thousands at Thuma Mina campaign launch in Tembisa.

President Cyril Ramaphosa visited Tembisa for the launch of the Thuma Mina (Send Me) campaign at Makhulong Stadium on 18 May.

The campaign is aimed at encouraging people to play a role in developing their country and uplifting the disadvantaged and the words Thuma Mina, were taken from a popular Hugh Masekela song.

The day kicked off with a fun walk led by the president around the community of Tembisa and continued with a door to door campaign aimed at addressing community problems and encouraging the community to serve each other and work well with the government.

The main address kicked off at 4pm, where thousands of people flocked to the stadium to hear what Ramaphosa had to say.

The bulk of the president’s speech was directed at African National Congress branches where he urged them to be visible and humble in the communities they serve in. He went on to say that Thuma Mina is a national initiative and the attitude to unitedly build South Africa should be adopted by everyone.

“South Africa needs volunteers who resemble the values of Nelson Mandela and Albertina Sisulu when it comes to selflessness and service to the people and country,” said Ramaphosa.

“We need leaders who will be of service to the people and nation for no reward, tender or contract.”
