Two men wanted for assault

MIDRAND – Midrand police arrested one of three suspects for robbery and assault at Halfway House.

The Midrand police arrested one suspect for robbery and assault at Halfway House, Midrand on 18 May at around 12am.

“According to the complainant, he lent the suspect an amount of R2 000 and the two made an agreement that the complainant will keep the suspect’s cell phone until he pays the money back to the complainant,” said Midrand police spokesperson Sergeant Matome Tlamela.

“Things took a turn for the worse when the suspect approached the complainant after a couple of days, demanding to have his cell phone back. The complainant reminded him of their agreement which the suspect allegedly did not want to understand,” said Tlamela.

According to the complainant’s statement given to the police, the suspect slapped him while forcing him to return the cell phone, prior to contacting two of his friends who later arrived and assaulted the complainant.

The complainant was able to identify all the suspects which then resulted in one suspect being arrested so far. The police are busy with investigations.
