Family robbed and tied up in their President Park home

PRESIDENT PARK – Three suspects tied up and robbed a family of their belongings at their home on 30 April.

A house in Republic Road, President Park, was ransacked and its occupants tied up during a robbery conducted by three male suspects.

The spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station, Sergeant Matome Tlamela, said the suspects, who were armed with firearms, proceeded to rob the main house after having robbed other households in the backyard of the property at 1am on 30 April. “The suspects, who introduced themselves to the homeowner as police officers, brought along the tenants to his door.

“The man, thinking that the tenants were experiencing a problem, allowed the suspects into his home, where they proceeded to tie up the occupants and force them to lie on the floor while stealing three Samsung 42 inch TVs, an HP laptop, tablets, cash and two Nokia phones to the value of R25 900.”

Fortunately, the wife of the homeowner managed to untie herself once the suspects had left the household and untied the other occupants before reporting the incident to police.

“The suspects are still at large and police are busy with investigations, hoping to bring the suspects to book.”
