Mrs SA hopefuls recycle paper for SPCA

MIDRAND – They need the community's involvement and assistance to make it a success.

Five Midrand semi-finalists in the Mrs South Africa pageant are engaging in a project with Mpact recycling company to collect as much paper for recycling, donating all proceeds to the local SPCA.

Babalwa Zibi, Khosi Madzonga, Lucy Mafuwane, Charnell Young and Sandra Sibeko are all competing for the crown. The project is part of their race where they are expected to embark on a community project and see it to completion. However, they need the community’s involvement and assistance to make it a success.

“We are urging the community to help us collect as much paper for recycling to make this project a success. All proceeds will be donated to the SPCA for free vaccinations and other needs. We would really appreciate every bit of help,” said Sibeko.

The women will collect all donated paper during an awareness campaign they will conduct together with the SPCA and Mpact on 12 May at the Midrand SPCA premises from 9am until 11am. “We also call on companies that have any paper they no longer use to donate it to the cause.”

They are required to collect 10 tons of recyclable paper by the end of June. Paper for donation can be dropped off at Midrand SPCA or contact Doreen on 073 969 7229.
