Allanridge Secondary School searched by police

MIDRAND – Rabie Ridge in partnership with the community held a search at Allanridge Secondary School.

Rabie Ridge police together with community patrollers embarked on a random search at Allanridge Secondary School on 19 April as part of a campaign to ensure safety and learning at schools.

“The school search was a random search because the police aim to catch pupils off guard, therefore pupils will always abide by the school rules because they will never know when the police might be conducting a search,” said Rabie Ridge police spokesperson Captain Matsobane Masela.

At about 8am police teams entered the school and searched pupils, their school bags and the premises for drugs, dangerous weapons and any unwanted items, not permitted on the school’s premises.

“If law enforcement can reduce or eliminate the use of drugs among young people, we believe this will enhance discipline and respect as well as create a safe learning environment.”

No illegal items or unwanted substances were found.

Details: Rabie Ridge Police Station 011 310 0410.
