Boulders Mall shopper held against her will

MIDRAND – False identification leads to shopper held against her will ...

A Boulders Mall shopper Refilwe Ngcangca (31) was allegedly held against her will at Boulders Mall on 14 April in an incident of mistaken identity.

Ngcangca alleged that she was stopped by two security guards in the mall’s parking lot and taken to the offices where she was apparently held for about 15 to 30 minutes.

“I kept on asking one of the security guards what was happening and no one was explaining things to me until the manager arrived minutes later and apologised to me for the false accusation,” said Ngcangca.

“According to the explanation I was given by the mall manager, I was falsely identified as a woman who had conned one of the customers weeks before I visited the mall. Apparently, I resembled the lady until they properly looked at the cameras and realised they had made a mistake.”

Ngcangca said she was very upset about the whole matter despite the fact that the manager had apologised for the incident.

Jose Maponyane, the Boulders Mall manager, did not deny the incident but said he did not want to talk about the matter with Midrand Reporter.
