One suspect arrested; two still at large

MIDRAND – One suspect has been arrested for a business robbery while investigations remain ongoing for the missing two suspects involved.

One of three suspects was arrested on 28 March at Marabastad shop in Halfway House, after they were caught attempting to rob the business.

Midrand police received an anonymous call regarding a business break-in in progress.

“When the police arrived on the scene they found a broken sliding door and a jackhammer plunged into the wall. What the equipment was going to be used for during the robbery is not yet known,” said Midrand police spokesperson Sergeant Matome Tlamela.

When the police began to raid the business in their numbers, three suspects ran out in different directions and the police gave chase but only managed to apprehend and detain one suspect, and the remaining two are still at large and investigations of their whereabouts are underway.

“If anyone has further information regarding the break-in, we urge them to contact the police because we will only win the fight against crime if we work together as a community.”
