Hillkruin Montessori held a market day on 7 April to groom little entrepreneurs from grades 4 to 7 in Blue Hills, Midrand.

Chairmaine Appalsamy, head director, said she is happy with the turnout but highlighted that it could have been better. “The market is an annual event for Grade 4 to 7 pupils aimed at teaching them economic management skills as well as improve their interactions with people of different personalities.

“A large number of parents attended the market and were allowed to assist their young ones where need be, but only for Grade 4 to 6 because for the Grade 7 pupils, this activity was part of their economic management science project,” said Appalsamy.

The day was filled with a variety of purchase options from food and sweets to stickers and manicures, and even some water games.

Marcia Abdie sold different flavoured jelly as well as vetkoeks with mince, while Zenzile Demis treated her clients to a beautiful manicure.
