#ICYMI: This is how a cup of coffee can change lives

GLENFERNESS – Summit College raises funds for the Cuppa for Cansa initiative.

Summit College has been supporting the Cuppa for Cansa initiative for the past seven years and this year was no exception.

The initiative raises funds to carry out cancer patient support programmes.

Summit College’s Annah Vilakazi has urged the community to buy a cup of coffee at a local Cansa Care Centre for R55.

“This is an annual event organised by a group of passionate teachers and prefects,” said Vilakazi.”We held an auction of the following items – toaster, microwave, spa voucher, cases of wine, cases of whisky and baked goodies and managed to raise the incredible amount of R10 700.

“We raised a further R5 000 from ticket sales and collected 65 donated teddy bears.”

Each guest was required to bring along a teddy bear which will be donated to the Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital.

“Summit College is proud to be a part of such an important initiative and we hope to touch the lives of many more cancer patients and survivors.”
