The Sun Valley area had an unexpected visitor on Sunday, 1 April – a colourful European roller.
“This is not a common bird in our area and is probably en route to Europe or the Middle East where they will breed before heading back to SA in October,” said the Greater Kyalami Conservancy (Gekco).

They said the beautiful birds hunt insects, scorpions, frogs and lizards from a prominent perch.
