A win for Rabie Ridge police

MIDRAND – Five suspects arrested in Rabie Ridge for possession of illegal firearms.

Rabie Ridge police held a crime prevention operation targeted at recovering illegal firearms.

The Rabie Ridge officials ran the stop-and-search operation on 25 March together with sergeants Mzamane Shirhinza and Mpho Mudau from the Provincial Flying Squad and Captain Gift Moilwa from the Ekurhuleni North Cluster,

Rabie Ridge police spokesperson Captain Matsobane Masela said, “The police are determined to recover illegal firearms because they are commonly used in criminal activities and make it difficult for the police to find the owner of the firearm as well as the perpetrator of the crime. We believe the community will be a safer place without the illegal firearms.”

Masela said the operation was successful because five suspects were arrested for being in possession of unlicensed firearms in Kanana, Rabie Ridge and Phomolong.

“More operations of this nature will be conducted as part of the fight against crime.”

Police have urged members of the community to report everyone suspected to be in possession of an illegal firearm.
